We are delighted to announce that Yasmine Hamdan will be closing DokuFest 2016, performing at Lumbardhi on August 13th.
The sultry, edgy Lebanese artist made a breakthrough with her band “Soap Kills”, considered to be one of the top underground electronic bands in the Middle East.
Choosing to incorporate Arab musical influences with upbeat tunes that found audiences and fans worldwide, most recognize her from her cameo in Jim Jarmusch’s “Only Lovers Left Alive”.
Hits like “Hal”, “Nediya”, “Samar”, “La Mosh Ana” and “Beirut” solidified her position on the global music scene, the latter devoted to her home town which she has since moved away from “in search of new challenges” in Paris.
After three studio albums with Soap Kills and one with the electronic music duo Y.A.S., she continued performing under her own name, releasing “Ya Nass”.
Hamdan will be performing on the Lumbardhi Stage on DokuFest, part of the festival’s devotion to bringing a large variety of world-class artists to the DokuNights repertoire.
