DokuFest is thrilled to partner with The Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival by bringing a glimpse of their festival with a specially curated programme under the title ‘Kassel Dokfest Short Films at DokuFest’.

The Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival is an annual event held in Kassel, Germany, showcasing short documentary films with a strong emphasis on artistic-experimental productions. Over the course of six days, the festival highlights the latest works in new media, making it an excellent addition to DokuFest, complementing this edition’s thematic take.

The four films presented in the programme reveal alternative realities - possible culminations of our current collective doings, what we often sense but ignore, images of the future of the greens’, governments’, and private sectors’ relations to infrastructure, privatization, ecology, surveillance, all wrapped up with cinematography that is just as jarring as it is beautiful.

The collaboration will continue on in Kassel, in November of this year with a film program & a discussion of both DokuFest and Beldocs festival representatives within Dokfest-Education in Kassel.

Listed below are the films:

Rotor by Ainara Elgoibar

Marine Target by Lukas Marxt

Gazing…Unseeing by Mohamed Abdelkarim

We knew how beautiful they were, these islands by Younes Ben Slimane
