Announcement of two Special Programmes in collaboration with ECAL/HEAD Master Cinema and COST Action Writing Urban Places.
DokuFest is delighted to share the outcomes of two significant training programs, where our role in fostering collaboration has been instrumental in providing unique opportunities for young filmmakers and researchers.
The first program, a collaboration with the esteemed École cantonale d'art de Lausanne (ECAL) and the innovative Geneva University of Art and Design (HEAD), presented a rigorous challenge to the students of the Master in Cinema ECAL/HEAD. The task was to write, shoot, and edit films within a span of three weeks during their workshop trip to Prizren, Kosovo in autumn 2022. This immersive experience in the heart of a young and dynamic country, known for its remarkable cinematic and artistic development, resulted in a series of short films. These films, mentored by the accomplished director and scriptwriter Kaltrina Krasniqi, and produced the DokuFest team, were made possible by the invaluable collaboration of the Prizren community. In another initiative, the ‘Future is Here’ program mentors, filmmaker Blerta Zeqiri and DokuFest's own producer and head of the DokuLab department, Eroll Bilibani, were invited as film mentors to a training school in Tirana and Kamza. This event was a fieldwork component of the COST Action Writing Urban Places. The objective of the training school was to delve deeper into the concepts of planned and unplanned urban spaces, and to challenge this dichotomy. The research is encapsulated in six films that will be premiered immediately after the screening of DokuFest’s ‘Future is Here’ Films on August 8 at the landmark ‘Kino Lumi’. DokuFest is proud to be part of these collaborative efforts that not only contribute to the development of film education and production but also provide a platform for cultural exchange and understanding. We look forward to sharing these films and continuing DokuFest’s mission to support local filmmaking and promote critical thinking through the medium of film.
