Throughout April and May, DokuFest completed the second phase of the D:Fict project, this time focusing on the Creative Production of Documentary Film.

The second training was led by field experts Trëndelina Halili, Anita Morina, and Kushtrim Haxha, The second training centred on the theoretical and practical aspects of creating a documentary film.

The session began with an introduction to the fundamentals of documentary storytelling, where participants were introduced to the structure, framework, and essential elements required to build a compelling narrative. Through a short lecture, the trainers also presented key visual components and the importance of sound in the creative process of a documentary.

Following the theoretical aspect, the students were divided into four groups to develop a film idea, which they were tasked to finalize by the end of the day. They were instructed to assign roles within their groups – including director, screenwriter, producer, sound team, etc. – to ensure the work was organized as efficiently as possible.

The practical part of the training involved hands-on camera and microphone exercises, where students actively explored the filming location and learned how to best utilize the space for their shoots.

In the final phase of the day, participants moved on to editing the filmed materials. The trainers introduced platforms that can be used for editing, demonstrated basic editing techniques in real time, guided students in selecting footage, and structuring their narratives.

The second D:FICT training emphasized practical learning and collaboration, combining theory with hands-on experience and equipping these young participants with the knowledge to create a short documentary.

This project is implemented in collaboration with the Innovation and Training Park in Prizren and GIZ Kosovo.
