DokuFest, in all its entirety, transcends the mere label of a festival for Kosovo, it tries to be a representative of the urge to challenge prejudice, and to champion openness, ultimately cultivating a free space to be. At the heart of this potentially transformative experience lies the music program of DokuNights, an indispensable element in achieving this goal. Within the Kosovo scene it provides a platform for everyone to come and engage in all their colors.
This year's DokuNights, carefully curated by Leart Rama, brings an all-star lineup that remains steadfastly devoted to the essence of freedom. The aim behind the curatorial process is to create a utopia where each person's unique identity is embraced, and through the medium of music, for this vision to become tangible.
From feminist icons to pioneers of electronic music they’re recognized trailblazers of freedom of expression. Some have taken what’s conventional and made it uniquely their own, others have created spaces to exist alternatively within the conforms of society.
To be a witness of this artistry is to take a step into an immersive experience of a proposed utopia of free self-expression.
Statement from the curator of the program, Leart Rama: I am delighted and honored to have had the chance to curate the music program for DokuNights for another year. This line-up is a never-ending journey through sound, narrating a unique story to each heart that listens. As a young filmmaker and DJ, my fascination with avant-garde music began with Dokunights back in 2014 when all of this was born by the forever inspiration of mine Nita Deda. Since then, I've always envisioned the day when I could perform on the prestigious Andrra stage. However, the opportunity to curate the entire program surpassed even my wildest dreams.
The carefully crafted line-up embodies the essence of freedom and paints a utopian reality that resonates with our deepest emotions. Living in an isolated country, our minds often wander and explore through dreams and imagination. This line-up is a manifestation of those sweetest spots from our daydreams, woven with the most beautiful sounds that transport us to places we have never been.
