100 years ago, Charlie Chaplin gave the world The Gold Rush.
On June 26, 2025, DokuFest and Lumbardhi Cinema are joining the global initiative to bring it back to the big screen in a beautifully restored 4K version, exactly a century after its original premiere.
For the first time, over 250 cinemas in 70 countries will screen The Gold Rush on the same day, and Prizren will be one of them.
This collaboration between two important cultural venues in Prizren aims to bring people together to celebrate the magic of cinema and one of its most iconic creators.
The Gold Rush is Chaplin at his best: funny, tender, and unforgettable. It follows his beloved Tramp character into the frozen Klondike in search of gold, where he finds hunger, friendship, and moments of pure movie magic like the famous “Dance of the Rolls.”
This special restoration brings us closer than ever to the film as it was first seen in 1925, thanks to a global team of archivists and film lovers who’ve helped preserve and piece it back together.
The screening will take place on Thursday, June 26, 2025, starting at 8:00 PM. The screening will be held outdoors at Plato, and in case of rain, we will move indoors at DokuKino.
The event is free and open to everyone.
