DokuFest today announced full slate of the films in competition for its 24th edition. After reviewing record number of nearly 3500 submissions, the programming team is delighted to reveal films that will be competing for festival awards. In total 100 films were selected for seven competition categories with Truth Dox Competition being paused for this year and is expected to return for the 2026, jubilee edition of the festival.
In the anticipation of the full programme to be announced on July 15, DokuFest will continue with the further programme announcements in the coming days, including its eagerly awaited theme announcement, the selection for the highly popular View from the World section, a Spotlight programme on a work of selected filmmaker, full DokuKids program, as well as a host of other specially curated programs, panel discussions, talks, master classes and music acts that will perform at the festival in the framework of the popular DokuNights strand.

This because we’ve seen so many great films this year, cared for them and for people there while also caring for those who made them. A year so difficult, so violent and so troubled that it inevitably reflected on what we’ve selected and what will be screened soon here soon. And a reminder once again that documentary filmmakers are at the forefront of what is happening today and the ones who are bringing back stories for us to see and care. So, part of this selection is also a celebration of these unsung heroes and we’re proud to be able to serve as a platform where these works are shared and seen.”
Samir Karahoda, Short Film Programmer of DokuFest, says:
This year, too, the selection of short films reflects a world that is no longer what it used to be. A world in turmoil, a society in flux, and an increasingly complex reality.
With that in mind we’ve been searching for bold voices and unique visions that challenge conventional approaches, both in content and cinematic language and through narratives that address personal crises, displacements, social divisions, and fading human sensitivity. We believe that we’ve found a number of them in the selection of short films below.”
DokuFest runs from 1 to 9 of August in venues throughout the historic city center of Prizren, as well as at ITP, Innovation and Training Park and at Abi Qarshia cinemas.
