During the 23rd edition of DOKUFEST, DokuKids will have a series of diverse and educational workshops for young people, including innovative topics such as data science, artificial intelligence, live audio-visual performance, filmmaking 35mm, ecological art, stop motion animation, yoga and mobile cinematography, carefully curated by Malborë Krajku and Idriz Morina

In total 49 films and 9 workshops have been planned for this year, they will offer a mix of theories and practices, enabling children of the age group 7-11 to adapt techniques and good works in different fields, under the guidance of experts and well-known artists.

The films will be shown every day from August 4th till the 9th from 10:00 to 11:00 am, at the Innovation Training Park (ITP). Below you can find the full list of movies:

1.Accelerate Your Data Science and AI Journey
age 14-16 years old, 3-4 August, from 11:00- 13:00

An intensive two-day workshop designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to data science and artificial intelligence, where participants will explore the fundamentals of data science, including an overview of the field and hands-on experience with Python programming and environment setup, delving into advanced AI topics dhe te development of the chatbots that the students will develop.

This workshop offers a balanced blend of theory and practical application, ensuring attendees leave with valuable skills and knowledge in data science and AI. This workshop will be organized in collaboration with IPKO Foundation. 

The workshop will last 2 days!


 

2. Av-Pulse, Live-Video for young creatives by Gian Marko
age 14-16 years old, 8-9 August, from 11:00-15:00

A workshop tailored for young learners, where they will delve into the foundational principles of live audio-visual performance. Under the guidance of artist/filmmaker Gianmarco Donaggio, the participant will collaboratively create visuals and acquire essential skills in blending images in real time.

The workshop aims to introduce the students to the captivating realm of live AV.

Day 1 - Intro to AV performance and generation of content

Day 2- Live AV session using Resolume

3. 35mm younger kids
age 7-11 years old, 4-5 August, from 11:00-15:00

35mm film is alive! Participants will experiment with various film alteration techniques and operate vintage machines to create a short collaborative film.

4. 35mm Older kids
age 12-17 years old, 6-7 August, from 11:00-15:00

35mm film is alive! Participants will experiment with various film alteration techniques and operate vintage machines to create a short collaborative film.

The workshop will last 2 days!

 

5. Eco-Art Workshop
age 8-12 years old, 7-9 August, from 11:00-15:00

In this creative workshop, children will have the opportunity to express themselves through art and learn about the importance of sustainability and recycling. Through different activities, they will create games and artistic objects from recyclable materials and discover how they can protect the environment in their daily lives. The workshop will last 3 days, where on the first day the children will learn about recycling and how to separate recyclable waste and create fantastic objects using recyclable materials. On the second and third days, they will prepare to create games, furniture, instruments, and robots. These creations will be exhibited on the last day of the workshop. This is a great opportunity for your children to develop their creative skills and learn about the environment in a fun and educational way.

6. Stop Motion – Animation Workshop
age 11-14 years old, 4—6 August, from 11:00-15:00

Animation is a fun way to create imaginary worlds where anything is possible. But how do we find the idea for an animated film? How do we find inspiration in the real world? In the workshop, participants get to know all the phases of making an animated short: from the very first idea to working on a storyboard and the animation itself. They learn about the basics of stop-motion animation techniques and the Dragon Frame software, experiment with various materials, and talk about how they see the world around them.

The workshop will last 3 days!


 

7. Yoga session with Erëza Vokshi
available for all ages, 4-9 August, from 9:30-10:00

Erëza Vokshi directs a wonderful yoga program for children and youth, creating a special space where they can practice yoga and develop self-management and awareness. Through various and fun exercises, children learn to recognize and manage their feelings and emotions healthily. This unique program offers participants a deep sense of calm and harmony with themselves and the world around them. Children will participate in yoga classes within the DokuKids program, immersing themselves in this magical experience.

The workshop will last 6 days!


 

8. SmartLens
age 12-15 years old, 5 and 7 August, from 11:00-13:00

Mobile Filmmaking and Editing Workshop. "SmartLens" is a creative name that combines "smart," referring to smartphones, and "lens," symbolizing the camera aspect of filmmaking. It implies a focus on using smartphones for filming and editing, suggesting a high-tech, accessible approach to mobile filmmaking. This workshop is powered by IPKO in partnership with Telegrafi. 

The workshop will last 2 days!


 

9. TechLab
age 7-14 years old, 7 August, from 12:00-14:00

Children will have the opportunity to experiment with educational robots Maqueen and mBot, each representing a different version. During the workshop, we will cover the basics of programming in Python, where activities with robots will include color tracking and obstacle avoidance.

In addition to robots, through the use of a 3D pen, children will express their imagination and creativity by creating three-dimensional models and structures. This activity is not only fun but also helps in developing their motor and creative skills.

Children will also have the chance to enter a virtual world using VR glasses, exploring environments full of adventures and challenges. This virtual experience will broaden their horizons and help them better understand modern technology.

Finally, we have prepared a challenging and strategic game with Jenga. This game consists of 54 wooden blocks that form a stable tower and involves solving mathematical problems to prevent it from falling. This challenge will develop their logical and strategic skills. This workshop is organized in partnership with Cacttus Education.
