May 25, 2017— HOME the DokuFest co-production and BAFTA-winning short film has added more awards to its 20+ collection. On Wednesday night, ‘Home’ won a Golden Arrow award at the British Arrows for Branded Entertainment, and a Wooden Pencil award from D&AD.
These awards are further recognition of both the craft of ‘Home’s initiative storytelling and the global impact ‘Home’ has had in spreading its powerful message of empathy and compassion towards refugees.
The awards are among two of the most prestigious awards in the creative communications field. The Golden Arrow is reserved for Britain’s very best in film, celebrating the best combinations of ideas and craft, while the Wooden Pencil is awarded by Design & Art Direction (D&AD) for global productions that represent the “best in advertising and design”.
‘Home’ reached into the homes of UK audiences when it screened on BBC1 going into the Telegraph Newspapers top-ten television shows of 2017 (so far) and becoming the only short-film to do so.
‘Home’ is a co-production between DokuFest, Somesuch and Black Sheep Studios. It is written and directed by Daniel Mulloy and stars Jack O’Connell, Holliday Grainger, Zaki Ramadani and Tahliya Lowles. The 20 minutes film is a Kosova and UK co-production and was shot in both countries. It focuses on the plight of refugees facing hostility and violence mirroring reality as millions across the globe flee war, famine and oppression.
