We are happy to unveil the full DokuNights line-up, sharing with you the performing artists, for our future edition. Nine nights at DokuNights will cover a thoughtful selection, calling for variety in taste, alternatives in attitudes and just the right amount of rebel youth the future calls for.
We open our festival on August 4, with the party of Kosovo’s label ‘Tomorrow’, featuring its stars Buta, Ledri Vula and Gamblemania with band for an electric start. Continuing our collaboration with Drug§tore, we will turn dark and industrial with a live performance of Sleeparchive and sets from Regen and De:Sonanz’s Andreas HZ, the way only Saturday deserves it. Sunday will turn dreamy with the concert of ANDRRA giving life to our Andrra stage and taking us into a triple dream inception.
We are proud to again be able to reveal some of Kosovo’s most exciting new music projects and formations making their debut in our big stage and giving an identity to our country’s brightest version of future. Prishtina’s collective CROWN & the ZBDs will bring their high-octane hip hop-rooted lyrically driven rapcore, while the newly created duo RRETH will launch their album containing a combination of influences that ghost around Kosovo by using Debussy inspired pianos to modern techno kicks with a mix of esoteric vocals.
Bernays Propaganda will be back in DokuFest for we love their danceable newwave/post-punk with charming female vocal and anarchist lyrics very much. The gig will be accompanied with our own local post punk electronica, Elektorati Intelektual, playing unreleased material for the first time.
An event we are especially proud of is the party with two legendary Nordic electronic musicians, Marcus Henriksson aka Minilogue and Samuli Kemppi, bringing a mixture of authentic dance music connected to nature. Our local artists Panda and Moodular will open the party for them, and the night will have full access to cosmos.
Angry Youth will again bring the finest in the growing grime scene, by hosting a night with the best the UK has to offer, Mez & Grandmixxer, with warm ups by heads of AY collective.
Second weekend will dip in electronica, celebrating a showcase of one of the world’s most exciting labels, Ilian Tape, with sets from label founder siblings Zenker Brothers and a live performance from Andrea.
To celebrate the newly renovated castle overlooking the city, we joined forces with CHwB Kosova and will host two magical live concerts on sunsets. On the sunset of August 5, the Albanian Iso-Polyphonic Choir will bring the emotional weight of centuries manifested with the power of the human voice and the genius improvisations of Robert Bisha, one the most gifted multi-instrumentalists you’ll ever see. On august 11, our dear friends and travellers Vincent Moon and Priscila Telmon will develop a new form of trans-cinema, including footage from the local sacred Sufi ritual, their own music ethnographic films and the magical live singing of our very own Agona Shporta. Make sure to look out for the other beautiful events Vincent and Priscilla prepared for us.
The closing night at our lovely Lumbardhi venue will be marked by a performance with Kaira Keila – the afro-beat collective made with members from across the world, coz we love shiny and happy farewells.
Enjoy the details of the full line-up below. It’s our treat to our spirits and yours, for the future is sonic.
