DokuNights begins with a bang, boasting a stellar opening-night lineup of eclectic DJs vibing on the same liberating frequency, swerving from nostalgic grooves to startling left-field cuts all in the name of a good time. Renowned Berlin-based DJ Byron Yeates brings to Kalaja his woozy brand of dubby downtempo and unexpected timbres and textures, followed by the feel-good vibes of Melbourne duo IN2STELLAR to carry us off into the night. This is all preceded by Kosovo’s very own Rebiswan, their rebellious energy getting the party started.

Byron Yeates

Progressive in both style and ethos, Byron Yeates is a celebrated Berlin-based DJ whose sets are inflected with an attitude that can at once be incredibly playful and theatrically sincere, this duality integral to the queer lineage of electronic dance music in which he places himself. As focused on sleek rhythms as he is on fostering community and inclusivity, he oversees the exciting Radiant Records label and is fundamental to the infamous globetrotting queer party series La Noche, which has featured at Berghain’s Panorama Bar, among other venues. With emotionally charged sets overspilling with dynamism, throwback house, ecstatic trance, and keen melodies, Yeates’ universe is both nostalgic and forward-thinking, and we can’t wait to step into it.

IN2STELLAR

Mainstays of Melbourne’s underground scene owing to their iconic Neurotiq Erotiq parties, free-spirited DJ duo Sarah Morgan and Georgia Bird, aka IN2STELLAR, are now proving a revelation on the international circuit. They’ve had mixes on international radio stations like Noods, Balaami and Rinse FM, and have showcased their sets at some of Australia’s biggest festivals, like Pitch Music and Arts, Strawberry Fields and Splendour in the Grass. Weaving an irresistible sense of fun into everything they create, their sets are an intoxicating concoction of galvanic grooves and euphoric dancefloor-fillers, revved up with classic 90s beats and futuristic touches that will leave you floating.

Rebiswan

Anyone familiar with Prishtine’s underground scene would have caught wind of Rebiswan, one of the brightest forces to emerge from Kosovo’s ever-evolving creative world. As a co-founder of Hyjneshat, a queer collective that toys with genres, boundaries and expectations, they are deeply rooted in community-building, care, and radical joy. Riding a political undercurrent while pushing you to move your body, their sets seamlessly segue from pulsating house and progressive trance to experimental cuts and flashes of pop nostalgia, bursting with a rebellious energy owing to their remarkable intuition. As expressive as its is transformative, Rebiswan’s music is an invitation to liberate yourself on the dancefloor.
