    DokuFest XIII Announces Full Slate!

    TSHIRT-2

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, JULY 24, 2014, Prizren, Kosovo – DokuFest announced today its full slate of films for the 2014 festival, which runs from August 16 – 24 in Prizren, Kosovo. Culled from a record number of nearly 2.400 submissions, the festival will showcase a fine selection of 237 films from 56 countries across 6 competitive sections and more than a dozen specially curated programs.

DokuFest opens with EVERYDAY REBELLION and closes with the screening of 20 FEET FROM STARDOM.

U.S.A. is the country in focus this year and will be presented with nearly 30 films, including screenings landmark documentaries such as Harlan County USA by Barbara Kopple, Hoop Dreams by Steve James and Hearts and Minds by Peter Davis. A number of filmmakers, producers and film professionals are expected to attend the festival, including Richard Pierce DoP and Lynzee Klingman, one of the editors of Hearts and Minds. The list of notable film people attending continues with Christian Frei, director of Sleepless in New York, Marilyn Ness, producer of 1971 and E-TEAM, and many other established names both from the region and abroad. The festival will pay tribute to Austrian filmmaker Michael Glawogger who passed away earlier this year by screening all three films from his Globalization trilogy. A comprehensive look at the Austrian experimental filmmaking scene and its heritage will be presented through the Austrian Experiments special program. Films about music, technology, and recent conflicts in Middle East, environmental issues and human rights are all part of the program, too.

This year DokuFest is full with films that show us that there is no other art form capable of moving us to tears, bringing us joy, taking us to places of horror and making us stand and want to change the world we’re living in, all at the same time.” said Veton Nurkollari, Artistic Director of DokuFest. “From the work of emerging filmmakers to the masters of the craft, and from filmmakers who are first timers to the ones who are returning, we are delighted to present an outstanding selection of films for this year’s edition.
