Kosovo and Prizren is now part of the EFA Young Audience Award organized by the European Film Academy in which young audiences in 17 cities across Europe vote for their own favorite children’s film.
THE CONTEST by Martin Miehe-Renard, REGRET! by Dave Schram and WINDSTORM by Katja von Garnier are the three nominees for the EFA Young Audience Award 2014. The nominations were chosen by a committee consisting of Margret Albers, Deutsche Kindermedienstiftung Goldener Spatz (Germany), Michal Matus, Tel Aviv International Children’s Film Festival (Israel), Jan Naszewski, New Europe Film Sales (Poland) and Eszter Vuojala, Oulu International Children’s Film Festival (Finland).
On Young Audience Film Day on 4 May, the three nominated films will be screened to audiences of 12 – 14 year-olds in 17 cities across Europe. Prizren will participate for the first time in this activity. About 80 young people from three high schools will act as a jury and vote for the winner right after the screenings. Jury speakers will then transmit the national results live via video conference to Erfurt (Germany) where the winner will be announced in an award ceremony streamed live on yaa.europeanfilmawards.eu. Kosovar directors Blerta Zeiqiri, Kaltrina Krasniqi and Ariel Shaban will guide the young jurors throughout the voting process.
DokuFest is one of the partners of the third edition of EFA Young Awards. Artistic Director of DokuFest Veton Nurkollari became a member of EFA last year. As a member, Nurkollari presented the screening of SHORT MATTERS! programme at Dokufest 2013, casted his votes for the European Film Awards and started the collaboration to bring the EFA Young Awards for the first time in Prizren and in Kosovo.
