DokuFest's Film Grants, known as "Support to the New Wave of Kosovo Filmmakers," is a prestigious initiative in Kosovo designed to nurture emerging talent in the film industry. This program offers a cash budget, production mentorship, and distribution support to promising filmmakers based in Kosovo. It is part of DokuFest's broader program, "Furthering Democratic Society through the use of Arts and Culture," supported by Swedish Embassy in Kosovo, which aims to address contemporary societal challenges such as the erosion of democratic institutions, lack of dialogue, and exclusion, by merging arts, culture, and relevant social issues.
We are seeking applications for up to 6 film ideas that will be short-listed based on the proposal and supporting visual materials submitted. Selected projects will then be further developed with the input of film professionals. Ultimately, 6 filmmakers will have the opportunity to pitch their projects to a panel of experts, who will commission up to 2 films to be produced by August 2024.
DokuFest will provide a cash budget of 7,000 Euros, along with a professional camera and in-kind production and distribution support. Additionally, the selected filmmakers will receive mentoring over a six-month period to help create vibrant and thought-provoking contemporary stories.
A key focus of this program is to support local talent, young storytellers, directors, and producers, in producing and distributing local stories to international markets. Through this initiative, we aim to promote local narratives from the perspective of young and creative artists.
These grants offer an alternative funding opportunity for filmmaking in Kosovo, specifically targeting filmmakers who can develop and deliver their projects within a set time-frame. Individuals ready to collaborate with young producers through registered film production companies are eligible to apply.
Join us in this exciting opportunity to contribute to the vibrant film industry in Kosovo and showcase your creative storytelling skills to a global audience. Apply now to DokuFest's Film Grants and be part of the new wave of Kosovo filmmakers.
Given that the selection committee consists of international film professionals, it is imperative that all materials be submitted in English.
