To escape from the suffocating daily routine, Lu, a young filmmaker, makes her getaway to the countryside where she meets an eccentric man who calls himself by the name of a famous Tang dynasty poet, Du Fu.
While Lu finds that Du Fu could make a perfect documentary protagonist, Du Fu seems becoming more and more like a fictional character Lu wrote in her script, a poet who decides to commit suicide.
Director
Xueqi Wang was born in 1995 in Hefei, a city in eastern China. She graduated with a degree in Japanese Literature from university and then attended the London Film School. Xueqi directed two short films, “Walking In” and “Drunken Boat”, that explores the blurry line between reality and fiction. She also works as a Director of Photography for many short films and documentaries. Xueqi is interested in the living conditions and the spiritual world of young people in contemporary Chinese society and plans to shoot a short film trilogy called “Mental Crisis”.
