Synopsis

In the city of Merida, Mexico, a group of young urban Maya, operate mysterious technological instruments to do some sort of archaeological survey of a ruined site. However, the monuments they are scanning are not ancient, but modern replicas. The film walks on the limits between science fiction and documentary to deconstruct the imaginary around Maya culture and their identity today.

Director Biography

Andrés Padilla Domene born in 1986 in Guadalajara, Mexico, studied Media Arts in Mexico. His individual work and in collaboration has been shown in various festivals and exhibitions internationally. His artwork departs from research and is often a thinking about technology by means of devices developed and implemented to produce the work. His films and videos are in the border between documentation and documentary and sometimes are the only way the work is presented.
