Public institutions, waiting rooms, public transportation are places of different names, but of the same character. In them one stays in order to be somewhere else. These are places “in between”, the places of temporality and exclusiveness which communicate to everyone in the same way, conventionally, without interest for individuals. One feels anxiety and “solitude echoing millions of others” (Marc Augé). Or perhaps feels a relief offering anonymity of a temporal identity? Does one wish for a change in this relationship or merge with nonidentity? Do the “non-places“exist for ourselves? Do the “non-places“exist because we need them?
