Diya

Synopsis

An Indian Canadian girl lights a diya while visiting her family’s home town, but the flame runs away because the girl is too ashamed of its colour to let it shine. This film explores themes of belonging, cultural identity and guilt while showing off the richness and vibrance of an Indian festival.

Director Biography

Aroona Khiani is a recent grad from Sheridan College's Animation Program and Character Designer for Animation based in Ontario, Canada. She strives to tell unique stories about her experience and culture. Her dream is to be well known for her appealing and lively designs.
