DokuFest today announced full slate of the films in competitions for its 22nd edition. 3481 films from 111 countries from all over the world were submitted for consideration, a whopping 22% increase from the previous year. The Festival will showcase 104 films in its eight competition sections, with number of films seeing their World, International and European premieres, making DokuFest an important launching pad in this part of the world for both, documentary and narrative short films.

Once again, we are delighted to state that there is hardly an art form other than the art of moving images that is capable of bringing us joy or moving us to tears, the one art form that is able to take us to the places of horror whilst at the same time making us stand and want to change the world. Many of the films in this year’s competition does exactly that and we are delighted to be able to share the work of, both growing number of emerging filmmakers, as well as the established ones, with our audiences soon.

“As every year, I am full of joy to see DokuFest returns again in full swing and with another exceptional programme of films that will question many things, such as our place in this world and the responsibilities we take or don’t take towards others and towards the planet in peril, as well as our ever growing relationship with technology.” says Veton Nurkollari, Artistic Director of DokuFest.

“I am also thrilled that time has come for me and for the programming team to finally share all those films that we cared so much for such a long time, films that will for sure move, amaze and in some cases, even shock the audience with their rawness and directness, a pure testament to the power of documentary film in first place, I’d say”.

In the following days DokuFest will continue with the further programme announcements, including its eagerly awaited theme announcement, the selection for highly popular View From the World section, a Country in Focus programme, as well as a host of other specially curated programs, panel discussions, talks, kids programme, master classes and music acts that will perform at the festival.

DokuFest runs from 4 to 12 of August in venues throughout the historic city center of Prizren, Kosovo, as well at ITP Prizren.
