Jianjie earned a bachelor’s in bioinformatics before turning to filmmaking to explore human nature. He received his MFA from NYU Tisch. His shorts A Visit and Gu screened internationally. His debut feature, Brief History of a Family, premiered at Sundance and Berlinale 2024.
