Synopsis :
What happens when an image takes control of the world it reflects?
‘sveti antun pustinjak’ is a short film that explores the tension between memory, identity, spirituality, and mental health in a post-socialist context. In a small bedroom, someone watches as images and memories of Tetovo are projected onto the wall in front of them, telling the story of their life.
The presence of Saint Anthony guides these images through their own representation and repetition, freeing them from the context in which they were created.
In place of nostalgia, ‘sveti antun pustinjak’ offers intimacy within dissolution. It is dedicated to the unarchived, the imagined, the broken, and the beauty of living, however briefly, within what no longer holds form.
