In a North Macedonian municipality of 11 villages, Antigona is the first and only female bus driver. After her father’s early retirement, she took over his role driving through remote areas, connecting people, and carrying heavy loads. As the sole link to the outside world, she defies gender norms with quiet strength and dignity. Her journey is one of resilience, duty, and transformation gently challenging how women are seen and see themselves in a male-shaped world.
Director
Iber Deari, filmmaker from Kumanovo, North Macedonia, explores themes of identity and exclusion. A graduate of ESRA Skopje, he focuses on marginalized voices. In 2025, he debuted his first feature film, continuing his commitment to socially engaged storytelling.
