Synopsis

Jan Oxenberg has been cited as a pioneer of New Queer Cinema since making Home Movie, in 1973. In this film, which features her family's home movie footage and her own trademark talent for parody, Oxenberg gives herself a cheerful lesbian childhood: “The thing I liked best about being a cheerleader was being with the other cheerleaders.” Oxenberg went on to make two more breakthrough films — A Comedy in Six Unnatural Acts and Thank You and Good Night — both of which were restored by IndieCollect. All three films are now in U.S. distribution through the Criterion Collection. She then turned to television and has since become a successful writer and executive producer of famous TV series, including Cold Case, Manhunt, etc.
