Afterwar is filmed over 15 years, using a mix of documentary and fictional storytelling with the goal of creating an elevated sense of reality, a less factual but ultimately truer story.
The film is a co-creation with the main cast using research interviews as basis for the writing of the fictional script. This approach allows the film to focus on inner story rather than factual life events, using real people together with professional actors. In this Master Class, Director Birgitte Stærmose will uncover the process and the method behind the film.
