In rural Turkey a mismatched film crew guns for international acclaim with a melodrama about the Kurdish-Turkish conflict.
Carmine Grimadi is currently a fellow at Harvard’s Film Study Center, where he has worked as a teaching fellow for the Sensory Ethnography Lab. He is also a doctoral candidate in history at the University of Chicago. He has made three short films that have screened internationally, and his work has been featured in Filmmaker Magazine.
Deniz Tortum is an artist working in film, video & new media and a graduate student at MIT Comparative Media Studies. His first feature film, Zayiat has been screened internationally, including SxSW and !F Istanbul Film Festivals. At MIT, Deniz is also a research assistant at Open Documentary Lab; his research currently focuses on virtual reality, post-photographic aesthetics and documentary games.
