Synopsis

60 years ago, French government decided to establish its space center in Kourou (French Guiana, South America). 600 guyanese people were expropriated to allow France to realize its dream of space conquest. Combining field investigation and video-editing processes on archives, Listen To the Beat of our Images )gives a voice to an invisibilized and silenced population.

Directors' Biography

Audrey Jean-Baptiste is a documentary and fiction filmmaker. She works between France and French Guiana. Her films address issues of race, gender and sexuality. Her first documentary film Fabulous (2019) has been selected in about sixty international festivals such as IDFA (International Documentary Filmfestival Amsterdam). Her third movie, Adieu l'enfance, produced by Films Grand Huit is currently in post-production. Maxime Jean-Baptiste is a filmmaker based between Brussels and Paris. His audiovisual and performative work lies between documentary film and contemporary art. Nou voix (2018), his autobiographical video work, received the jury prize at the Festival des Cinémas Différents et Expérimentaux de Paris.
