Inherited Memory
How do filmmakers create a relationship with home when home is remembered, inherited, lost, or politically unreachable? Is home a place, a language, a family story or a filmic reconstruction? Kosovar diaspora filmmakers, alongside voices from other displaced contexts, explore what distance reveals, what it distorts, and how it changes a filmmaker's responsibility.

I Heard That They Are Not Going To See Each Other Anymore follows two intertwined relationships in a dreamlike Taipei. Tao’s difficult love for Shin and Melih’s attempts to reach Ping unfold through longing, guilt and memories that are hard to escape.
It screens as part of the Fiction/Non-Fiction programme on Sunday, 9 August, at 13:30 at Kino Art Theatre, and on Thursday, 13 August, at 17:30 at DokuKino.
Adem follows a nameless construction worker who builds the foundations of other people’s lives while his own sense of stability begins to erode. As he tries to send something to Kosovo, he remains haunted by a connection that has been lost.
It screens in the National Competition on Wednesday, 12 August, at 20:30 at DokuKino Plato.
Language of the Diaspora follows five friends in Switzerland as they explore their relationship with the Albanian language and the ways migration and oppression reshape it. Moving through places of memory, the film sits between documentary and experiment, reflecting on language, identity and belonging.
It screens in the National Competition on Monday, 10 August, at 20:30 at DokuKino Plato.
Eneos Çarka is a filmmaker, media artist and researcher whose work moves between documentary and experimental cinema. Often beginning with intimate relationships and family histories, his films explore memory, identity and the ways personal stories are represented.
Admission to DokuTalks is free. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The discussion brings together local experiences in reviving and programming public cinemas in Kosovo and international experiences in festival programming, audience development and cinema networks and marks the beginning of a broader public process that will contribute to the development of the Network of Public Cinemas in Kosovo.
