Five friends explore their relationship with the Albanian language within the Swiss diaspora. They wander through places of remembrance where identity is forged, and give voice to Albanian culture in places where it is suppressed. Gjuha e diaspores straddles the line between documentary and experiment, serving as an investigation into what happens to the Albanian language as a result of oppression and migration.
Directors' Biography
Diell Curri, born in 2002 in Lucerne, Switzerland, to Kosovo-Albanian parents, is currently doing a Bachelor’s degree in Video at Hochschule Design Film Kunst. His film ‘Viscosuisse nicht das Paradies’, which he made during his first year of study, was nominated for Best Documentary at the Shorts Festival in Offenburg in 2025. In his latest film, ‘Gjuha e Diasporës’, Curri explores the Albanian language and identity within the Albanian diaspora in Switzerland.
