Ahmed, a young man living in a workers' city on Egypt’s edge, who recently graduated from film school and gets a job in the capital, Cairo. Meanwhile, his close friend wants to emigrate abroad. Ahmed’s thoughts about starting his future in a new city force him to confront the past of his decaying hometown, which pushes him to leave, while he cannot bring himself to leave his mother alone.
Directors' Biography
Mahmoud Ibrahim is an Egyptian filmmaker from Kafr El-Dawar and a 2023 graduate of Alexandria’s Higher Institute of Cinema. Interested in cities, memory and archives, his debut short The Last Day screened at Berlinale Forum Expanded. He co-founded HandyCam Films.
