“Butterfly” was created in collaboration with the residents of the “Mladost” Children’s Home in Bijela, where no child has continued their education after leaving. Through the filmmaking process, 15 children learned about acting and film, but their real-life stories overpowered the script. The film becomes an honest encounter with reality, where a lesson in cinema grows into a lesson in life - love as the only means of resistance.
Directors' Biography
Sara Stijović (b. 1997, Podgorica) is a Montenegrin film director, KinoEyes graduate, Cannes La Fabrique Cinéma alumna, Sarajevo Talents alumna, and Slano Film Days 2026 Talent. She is developing her first feature creative documentary, titled "The 13th Fish".
