Synopsis

Anne, Richard & Paul is a film portrait of Bow Gamelan Ensemble, the now defunct group that featured performance artist Anne Bean, sculptor Richard Wilson and musician Paul Burwell.
Known for their large-scale performances featuring instruments made from scrap metal, glass and other non-traditional musical materials, the group utilised pyrotechnics and fireworks to create highly choreographed spectacles of noise and light.
The film moves between documentary and abstraction, the past and the present to create an impressionistic record of the trio.

Director Biography

A selection of moving image work by the artist named above who is Morgan Quaintance and who is also based in London though he can barely afford to live here and is desperately trying to find a way to experience a quality of life that is commensurate with the size, shape and generosity of his spirit (if there is such a thing) and is somewhat cowed by the knowledge that this will likely not be attainable in his lifetime unless by the "grace" of some DEUS EX MACHINA that he waits patiently for because…well…we all need hope.
