Synopsis

Young film directors used historical motive in partly autobiographical monologue to reflect on the state of culture in the country. As the most significant representative of the cultural and historical heritage, they chose a recently closed National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo - which is set in the role of King, the keeper of the past, future and the people. Shots taken outside of the institution and the silence surrounding the museum show the inability to access history and identity. In a satirical manner it shows the attitude towards society and the relationship between the individual and culture. From this thought arises that people have become or will become impersonal, without past, and their own roots. The metaphor of a “king and court jester” communicates criticism of the system and the state of the culture. - “(...) where court jester converts culture into rotting remnants of human history.” Reference is made to other institutions such as the National Museum. The museum is personified and placed in the role of captive personality that fails to express, in the role of the defeated king. It is a symbol of the individual as a whole. In a subjective manner, the film addresses the issue of the future of new generations who will grow up in an environment without the security of their historical roots. “How to accept and convey to his brother that the king hung a sword? “ The end of the film contains metaphorical, expressive invocation of the awareness of society about what it is responsible for, and partly immanent fear of forgetting and inability to return to what it’s worth.
