Christiania chronicles over 50 years of the famous Copenhagen freetown, one of the world’s most radical social experiments. Through remarkable archival footage, director Karl Friis Forchhammer traces its journey from a 1971 occupation of abandoned barracks to a unique community shaped by freedom, creativity, conflict, drugs, biker gangs, and political struggles. A vivid portrait of a place constantly redefining itself while fighting to survive.

Directors' Biography
Karl studied at FAMU, where he directed the short "What to Do While Trains Pass By," which premiered at Jihlava Documentary Film Festival in 2015. He later attended the National Film and Television School (NFTS) in the UK, and his graduation film, "Ravens," premiered at Visions du Réel in 2019, winning the Grierson Award. After NFTS, he developed "Ravens" into the feature-length documentary "Last Days of Summer," premiering at CPH:DOX in 2020.
