In 1991, as Croatia stood on the brink of war, Josip Reihl Kir, the Osijek police chief committed to dialogue and peace, was assassinated. Peacemaker reconstructs the final months of his life through witness testimonies and archival footage, exploring his efforts to prevent the Croatian-Serbian conflict. More than three decades later, key questions about his murder—and those who ordered it—remain unanswered.
Directors' Biography
Ivan Ramljak (b. 1974) is a film director and curator. Founder of the Human Rights Film Festival Zagreb, he has led major film programs and festivals. Since 2022, he has been a short film selector at Rotterdam. His documentaries have screened worldwide and won numerous awards.
