Cameroon on the brink of independence. The Dalens’ live in a small town, run by the French Administration. Marc, the father, is hardly ever home. Aimée, the mother spends most of her days in her yard, gardening. France is their daughter, and she just keeps to what is going on, together with Protée, the black boy running the house, and her best friend.Their peaceful lives are disrupted when an airplane makes a forced landing on their property.

Directors' Biography
Claire Denis (b. 1948, France) is an acclaimed director and screenwriter known for exploring colonialism, identity and otherness. Raised in Africa until age 12, she studied at IDHEC (now La Fémis) and worked with directors including Wim Wenders. Her debut feature Chocolat premiered in Cannes in 1988. Her notable films include Beau Travail, 35 Shots of Rum and High Life, which won the FIPRESCI Prize at San Sebastián in 2018.
