Portrait of my Mother
Director
Milica Tomić

Created after the NATO bombing of Belgrade, Milica Tomić’s work explores the trauma of Yugoslav Modernism’s collapse and shifting identity politics under Milošević. Focusing on her mother, Marija Milutinović—a retired actress turned tapestry weaver—the film traces personal and national fractures. As Tomić walks through symbolic urban landscapes toward her mother’s home, the piece becomes a layered portrait of generational conflict, memory, and lost utopias, blending personal narrative with political critique.
