Synopsis:
“We left everything to build your home” is an intimate portrait of Bangladeshi construction workers in Kosovo, captured mainly through their own mobile phone footage. As they work under unsafe and exploitative conditions to build homes for others, the film reveals the human cost of economic migration and modern-day slavery. Through their eyes, we witness the resilience, vulnerability, and quiet resistance of lives caught in the shadows of global inequality.
This film is produced during the 'Breaking Borders' Residency Program, a partnership between DokuFest and the Scottish Documentary Institute, supported by the British Council’s International Collaborative Grants.
