In the aftermath of a nuclear apocalypse, what remains of humanity cowers in a decrepit vault deep underground. Soft (Jerzy Stuhr) is tasked with maintaining morale among the survivors while they await a fabled Ark on its way to rescue them. But as the days go by, Soft’s proselytizing suffers under the realization that there may be no salvation after all…
Directors' Biography
One of European cinema’s great visionaries, Piotr Szulkin was a persistent critic of Poland’s authorities. His 1981 sci-fi film War of the Worlds: Next Century was seen as a bold attack on the regime and was pulled from circulation just before martial law was declared.
