Why are certain building materials normalised and others, often more local, forgotten in both their substances and craft? Two material ecologies from Tirana and Kamza are followed: concrete and debris products. Most of the new buildings are made mainly with concrete. Debris was used as DIY material and used to make affordable homes in Tirana and Kamza. What can a travel following materials tell us about these cities in drastic transformation?
