RECOLLECTION

Synopsis

Reflecting experiences of Kosovo from the perspective of a 90s kid, Recollection is an experimental documentary that explores the author’s feelings between individual and collective memory, identity and struggle. Through a collage of family footage along with mixed items of pop culture memorabilia, this experiment celebrates the collective journey in an era of oppression and resistance. In the intersection between two different realities, this video-narrative is spontaneously built and never simply over.

Director Biography

Art Haxhijakupi is an artist and researcher from Kosovo. He has previously worked for various art organizations in Kosovo and the UK, Arts Catalyst and Dirty Movie among others. He is equipped with degrees in Cultural and Critical Studies, and English Literature. Haxhijakupi is constantly interested in cultural phenomena concerning Kosovo and the Balkans, which have previously not attracted much critical attention.
