There is a piece of Europe in the Indian Ocean. As a relic of the colonial era belongs island of Mayotte within the French State, and from neighboring islands embarks people out of a foaming sea to reach Europe's shores just north of Madagascar. The boat has become a metaphor for a world in which people, whereas goods can not circulate freely. And how arbitrary lines on a world map can determine the fate of mankind. The artist group SUPERFLEX spray their subversive and contemporary critical contrast fluid into the current refugee and migration issues, which a questionable political imagination emerges: the notion of Europe.
Director
Tuan Andrew NGUYEN (1976, Vietnam) is a filmmaker, educated in Fine Arts at the University of California. He is a member of The Propeller Group, an artist collective that specialises in media productions. Nguyen made his short film Kwassa Kwassa (2015), in collaboration with the artist collective SUPERFLEX.
