Three families live in a village partially submerged by water in Northwest of Mexico: Pani and Paula refuse to close their tortilla store and spend their spare time rescuing the town from the ruins; Miro and his parents dream of leaving but they can’t; Jaimito and Yoya, even do they live in fear, they have everything they need.
Having graduated from the CUEC Film School in the Mexico City, Betzabé García (Mexico, 1990) directed several award-winning shorts such as Venecia, Sinaloa (2011 – Official Selection FICG, FICM) and Porcelana (2013 – Best Short Film at Guanajuato IFF). She was also nominated for the Rolex Mentor & Scholarship Protégés Arts Initiative 2014. Kings of Nowhere is her first feature-length project.
