Synopsis

The centuries-old custom of blood feuds has started blighting lives in Albania since the collapse of communism, particularly in the mountains of north, where many families are living locked down in their houses in fear of blood vengeance. The ancestral code of “Kanun”, which has governed rural life in Albania for five centuries of foreign occupation, include the right to murder to avenge an earlier killing: “blood must be paid with blood”.

Director Biography

A documentary filmmaker, Roser’s enormous curiosity for the narrative behind global and social issues and have sculpted her into a contemporary Nomad. Her last film MACHINE MAN has enjoyed global success, appearing in hundreds of film festival worldwide, as Brooklyn International Film Festival, Aljazeera Film Festival, DokLeipzig or DocsDF Mexico; and collecting more than 20 “Best Documentary” awards, including the CANAL+ Award at the Women’s Film Festival of Creteil 2012 (France) and First place for “Long-Form Multimedia Documentary” at Picture of the Year International 2012 (USA).
