Synopsis

Burden of My Heart is a poetic documentary film about the time after the most comprehensive genocide since the Second World War. In the middle of the night in Kigali, Rwanda, a man sits down in an empty cafe to tell you what it feels like to be left alive. Men wash the bones of their loved ones, a woman prays for shelter for her children and, as people gather to remember, the memories resurface. Everyone has found their way to make it through the day. The Rwandan genocide took place in 1994. This films show the scars of people who became survivors 16 years ago.
