Are miracles real? Plateros, Zacatecas, Mexico: Land of Faith and Miracles. “El Santo Niño de Atocha” (the Holy Boy of Atocha) is a miraculous image of Jesus Christ that gives hope to everyone that has faith in him. Mexicans and Latinos, narrate the supernatural favors they have received from “El Santo Niño”, and how to thank him for miracles they leave intimate belongings in his sanctuary as a memory: little metallic pieces called “milagritos”, photographs, hair, etc. Filmed in a little town with a great soul, “Leave your miracle here (Deposite aquí su milagro)” gives a profound insight on Mexican rooted religious culture.

Director

Mario Alberto Vázquez del Mercado Martínez. November 24, 1987. Mario Vázquez was born in the city of Monterrey, Nuevo León, México. His loving parents, Miguel and Carolina, are chemists, hard working, excellent parental figures, and, along with his older brother, Miguel Angel, taught him plenty about friendship, respect, loyalty and the importance of nurturing whatever talent we are all born with. His approach to painting and storytelling came at a very early age, art expressions that finally led to his passion towards cinematography. At the age of 15, he made his first short amateur feature, “House for rent” – which won first place at the CNC, a juvenile national competition in México. Afterwards, he participated in the CNC for another two years, earning second place in both events.
