In between screenings and late night parties, DokuFest will continue the tradition of hosting a variety of panels, master classes and workshops. These events, introducing renowned figures in their respective fields, will tackle a slew of issues, film-related and beyond.

MIGRATION AS A GLOBAL PHENOMENON
Approximately one in seven people today are migrants: 232 million people are international migrants, or 3.2% of the world population, and 740 million are internal migrants. International migration is a global phenomenon that is growing in scope, complexity and impact. The debate will discuss the current international trends of migration.

THE ROLE OF MEDIA IN FIGHTING CORRUPTION
A public debate on the the role and impact that media has in both creating perceptions of corruption and fighting corruption. Excerpts of the documentary “Life is sacred” will be screened, which will directly feed in the discussion.

DEALING WITH THE PAST
Debate seeking to address the important role that art and culture can play in creation of new values that could help in dealing with the traumas of the conflicts in nineties of the last century. The most recent developments and exchanges in arts and culture in the region are the best indicators of it.

MIGRATION AND ISOLATION
Last year’s exodus of more than 100,000 Kosovars towards countries of the Western Europe raised concerns for many governments on both ends of the phenomenon. Quest for a better life lies at the core of the exodus, but other factors, as access to employment and better opportunities abroad stand behind it to.The debate will in particular explore Kosovo’s international isolation, and inability of its citizens to travel freely to Europe as a powerful factor that affects the illegal migration.

BALKAN REGION & CLIMATE CHANGE
At the end of November, The United Nations Climate Change Conference will take place in Paris. The conference objective is to achieve a legally binding and universal agreement on climate, from all the nations of the world. In this context a regional green debate will try to tackle the key environmental and climate change challenges and opportunities in the region.

SEXUAL VIOLENCE CONFLICT
Talk on sexual violence in conflict in Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, its consequences for survivors and the society, and the importance of access to justice and reconciliation.

MIGRATION AS A DRIVE FOR NATIONAL REFORMS
International migration of skilled persons has assumed increased importance in recent years reflecting the impact of globalization, revival of growth in the world economy and the explosive growth in the information and communications technology (ICT). A number of developed countries have liberalized their policies for the admission of highly skilled professionals.
What policies need be to adopted in underdeveloped countries like Kosovo towards improved economic growth through increased export of highly-skilled labor and services.

LECTURE WITH VASIF KORTUN

An Istanbul-based writer, curator and teacher in the field of contemporary visual art, Vasif Kortun will address questions of art and urban change focusing on his work as the Director of Research and Programs at SALT, Istanbul—an institution that hosts numerous programs and an extensive archive on Turkish modern and contemporary art and architecture. His lecture is part of our collaboration with The National Gallery of Kosovo’s public programme.

SECRETS OF DOCUMENTARY EDITING: A MASTERCLASS WITH LUCY WALKER
Two-time Academy Award nominated director Lucy Walker will share her recipe on the no-fail rules to realize the fullest potential of even the scariest messiest pile of raw footage. She’ll cover both process and practical tips as well as share the insights she’s gleaned making her five feature documentaries as well as several shorts.
