On Monday, August 19th @ 4 PM, Signe Byrge Sørense, the producer of the much-lauded The Act of Killing, a Danish production by American filmmaker Joshua Oppenheimer, will host a masterclass at the Hammam Museum.
The multiple award-winning The Act of Killing, a tour-de-force film, is playing at the festival this year as part of our Focus Nordic program. This master class is for the burgeoning producer, as well as offering conversation about making a film that is complex, politically sensitive and dangerous for the people involved in making it, both behind and in front of the camera. The talk will center on how she collaborated with director Joshua Oppenheimer during the decade of making the film in Indonesia. With literally years’ worth of audio and visual material, Sørensen will reveal how they worked together to produce this masterpiece of modern nonfiction. Clips from the film will be shown. Moderated by Pamela Cohn.
