Synopsis

Romania entered the European Union on January 1, 2007. On the same day, a two-year moratorium was established on free circulation of workers coming from Romania. As a consequence of this measure, until January 1, 2009 many Romanians legally residing in Spain cannot work… Daniel is a Romanian trying to survive on the streets of Barcelona and even though he hasn’t got a coat, he still has hope that in January 2009, he will manage to find a job and reorganize his life.

Director Biography

Born in Portugal, he graduated in Law, but after being selected to participate in a workshop within the Hola Lisboa Ibero-Americano Film Festival, he presented a short film, which won him a scholarship to study documentary in Barcelona. His graduation film “Jumate/Jumate” was selected in several international film festivals and won the first prize of the jury in the Documenta Madrid 08, Golden Boll Film Festival and the Golden Egg competition of the Reykjavik International Film Festival Talent Campus. In 2009, he was selected to participate in the Berlinale Talent Campus and he is now presenting his new film “In January, perhaps”, while at the same time developing his first feature film.
