Founded in 2002, with the aim of revitalizing culture cinema in Prizren, DokuFest grew and expanded into the most important documentary and short film festival in Southeast Europe and from 2019 is a BAFTA qualifying festival for short films and this year is ranked amongst the 40 most spectacular screens on the planet.
DokuFest fills the cinemas and improvised screening venues around the historic city of Prizren with a selection of more than 200 hand-picked films from around the world and anchors its array of films by choosing a unique theme each year.
DokuFest distinguishes not only for its breathtaking screenings but also prudently curated documentary and short film programs, DokuPhoto exhibitions, workshops with remarkable filmmakers, international and regional music acts that perform at DokuNights, children festival DokuKids and rich program of socially engaging debates, master classes and Q&A sessions after the screenings. All of this is followed up by the passion and energy of 150 volunteers that buzz around every corner of Prizren, welcoming guests, working at our shop center and cinema venues.
Love for the cinema and the city has kept us motivated through all these years and has made the journey all worth it and exceptional.
20th jubilee edition is a love letter to cinema.
