DokuFest organized two training seminars with high school professors in Prizren and Prishtina as part of its project “Schools and Documentaries – Promoting Democratic Values and Human Rights through Film”. Methodological manuals containing information on documentary films and their use as a tool for education in the classroom as well as a DVD package with 6 documentaries addressing social and human rights issues were distributed to the professors. About 20 high school professors participated in the training and had the opportunity to learn about the use of manuals and documentaries with high school students.
DokuFest experience in the last three years has proven that audiovisual tools have great potential to communicate efficiently with high school students. We plan to further expand the project in high schools in Pristina where we will establish film clubs and organize film screenings followed by debates on the issues addressed in the documentaries. Screenings and debates aim at increasing the awareness of Kosovar students in understanding the issue of social and human and the development of a democratic society.
Project “School and Documentary” is implemented in cooperation with partner DokuFest, One World Festival in Prague and supported by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED).
